Meet the teacher
My name is Fang Ge and the children call me “Ge Lao Shi”, which means Teacher Ge in Chinese. This is the second year that I am teaching the Chinese Immersion Program at the kindergarten level. Last year’s learning and growth with my students was such an enjoyable experience for me. I cannot wait to welcome your child into the exciting world of Chinese language and culture.
I come from Beijing, China and I am the only child in my family, a fact hard to explain to the American children. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in English, I joined the largest engineering company in China, where I worked as the Assistant for President and the Training Supervisor in the HR Department. Currently, I am pursuing the Chinese Teacher Certification and a master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum at the Michigan State University.
Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoy listening to music, visiting museums and hanging out with friends. To me, working with young children brings about happiness and a sense of accomplishment and gratification.
If you have any questions or just wonder what your child is talking in Chinese, please feel free to contact me at (586) 784-2632. I am usually available from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in working days. You can also email me at [email protected] or visit our program website at http://chinese4kids.weebly.com/.
I look forward to having a wonderful school year with your child!
